Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy – is a partial gastrectomy where the majority of the greater curvature of the stomach is removed and a tubular stomach is created. In 2016 this was the most commonly performed bariatric procedure in the world. This procedure is strictly a restrictive procedure.
Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass – is a surgical procedure that creates a small stomach pouch from the existing stomach and attaches it to the small intestine.
Lap Band® Surgery – is performed using a silicone band that is placed around the top section of the stomach. A small tube connects the band to a port placed subcutaneously in the abdomen. Injecting saline into the subcutaneous port increases the degree of restriction around the stomach.
Chapman Global Medical Center has highly experienced Bariatric Surgeons and some of the lowest complication rates in the state. Using a minimally invasive approach greatly decreases the recovery time. Typically patients are able to return to work in 1 to 2 weeks.
Chapman Global Medical Center holds the following designations:
- Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery with the MBSAQIP / ACS
- Metabolic and Bariatric Center of Excellence with the Surgical Review Corporation
- Blue Distinction in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery with Blue Cross/Blue Shield
- Institure of Quality in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery with Optum
