South Coast and Chapman Global Medical Centers Recipients of 2015 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award

(Santa Ana, CA)- Today, Chapman Global Medical Center and South Coast Global Medical Center officially announced their achievement as the Healthgrades 2015 recipient of the Patient Safety Excellence Award™, a designation that honors hospital performance in the prevention of serious, potentially preventable complications during hospital stays. The distinction places Chapman GMC and South Coast GMC among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for its excellent performance as evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information regarding physicians and hospitals.

On average, 133,896 patient safety events could have been avoided if all hospitals, as a group from 2011 from 2013, performed similarly to hospitals performing better than expected on each of 13 Patient Safety Indicators evaluated by Healthgrades.

“Our commitment to our patients and their safety is reflected in the dedication of our nurses, physicians and hospital staff who provide the optimum level of care, consideration and quality service,” said Don Kreitz, Chief Executive Officer of Chapman Global Medical Center and South Coast Global Medical Center. “Our hospitals are honored to have received this recognition from Healthgrades for patient safety.”
